Finalist for Southern Buoy Studios Landscape Prize 2020
I was honoured to be selected as a finalist for the Southern Buoy Studios Landscape Prize this year. The prize will be awarded to the best landscape/ seascape painting making reference to the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria. This painting is an abstract exploration of the mangrove and saltmarsh areas of French Island. I find the colours of the saltmarsh magnetic, the delicate reds and pinks of the succulent heathland are believed to be a response to salinity and sunburn to the plants. This habitat is a critical part of the ecosystem on French Island and is under threat with rising sea levels.
